SB 607 -- UNEMPLOYMENT FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Workforce
Development and Workplace Safety by a vote of 13 to 1.
This bill removes the exemption for salaries of elected officials
for purposes of calculating partial unemployment benefits.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that elected officials are treated as
a special class under existing unemployment law, and the bill
will fix that.
Testifying for the bill was Senator Loudon.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
